MayorSam Blogger, NHDC Founder and Chairman Joe Barrettwas recently honored with "The President's Award" by the
Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council.
At the meeting the Council President said-
"I wish to recognize is someone we all know and love.
His dedication to our community has put him through
many challenges, obstacles, difficult situations, laughter,
tears, stress and fears. He's become well known in
many circles but his drive for improving our quality
of life will forever be a part of the history of
Sunland-Tujunga. He is a determined, community
volunteer who has the support of thousands of people
- I'd like to extend this President's Award to Joe Barrett."

Members of the Sunland-Tujunga
community come to Mt Gleason Middle
School to have a 'dialogue' concerning
the large hardware conglomerate that
is starting construction of one of their
outlets on the Edward's property
originally the Sunland Drive-In.
Having a K Mart Store for years,
when K mart bought out Sears
they divested some of these properties
to Home Depot. While HD pays these
leases, some communities have
RISEN-UP to challenge
the big company's aspirations...
SUNLAND TUJUNGA
being the first to do this.
Here we see locals, like Sheriff Joe B,
and supporters such as Mayor Sam,
MIKE HIGBY & ZUMA DOG.
Toni Guinyard came for KNBC and
the Chicago Tribune sent KTLA to report.

Neither Home Depot, nor the City Attorney's
"Dispute Resolution Program" team has yet
to contact anyone in Sunland-Tujunga.
Not a word, not even a
"Hello, we'll get back to you soon".
The backroom deal that the City Attorney
made with Home Depot trumpeted how
both HD and the City Attorney's office would
"outreach" to the Community in a major way.
As of today, still nothing from either party.

the missing ear gouged out by Van Gogh is bandaged in his self portrait
but far from concealed by our imagination; the “Freak” photos of
Diane Arbus, haunting her perhaps to end her life even though her
insight lives on - these are a few of many art noir creators, bringing
to light the fact that dark art is indeed enlightening.
NoHo Gallery LA is pleased to present a group showing of “Art Noir”
artists featuring Tara Greer’s paintings & breathtaking triptych oil
tapestries on canvas portraying the evolution of darkness into the light.

JON LAURITZEN ( 1938-2007 )
I met John Lauritzen a couple of years ago,
introduced by a good friend at the school district
headquarters on Beaudry in Downtown L.A.
He was very nice and we talked about the subject
there that day, which was the community colleges
efforts towards getting information to students
to be aware of their curriculum.
The next time I saw Mr. Lauritzen was
at the public opening of East Valley High School right
in the middle of NoHo. He spoke wonderfully and
you can see this in the 5 minute short I made to
commemorate the ribbon cutting.
This, now, is in HIS HONOR.

" NEVER SAY MACBETH "
Consequences unfold when a man comes to see his actress
girlfriend and has contact with cast members of the said,
I mean 'never said', play by The Bard.
Freak-out occurs when the word is used and all the age
old superstitions come out that thespians have held
for hundreds of years. The film manifests itself with great
cinematographic skills and superior lighting, showing all
the ghosts and the fears that these young people endure
in order to serve their art and exhibit their production.
This is all done in parodistic style. After a quick 101 about
Never Saying that name, the man, a teacher, is drafted
into the play and finds himself at odds with this acting stuff
and the triangle between himself, his girlfriend, and another
actor. From street clothes to the dressing rooms, rehearsals,
to the play itself, with all the Shakespearean overtures to
the Ghosts in the Theater, this film contains all the authenticity
and embraces the essence of the original play itself.
Set to show on the final day of the Valley Film Festival
on Sunday September 16 at 4 p.m.

at Foothill & Commerce, also in Tujunga is in 2007
finally getting ready for a new community mall.

recently had our GOVERNATOR, prior to him being
elected, making a major motion picture right at this
same corner of Foothill and Mt. Gleason?
IT IS TRUE...T 3 Terminator 3 was filmed extensively
in Sunland Tujunga and right at this corner where there
is now this new mini mall.
We saw something being built back then and
said 'oh no another car repair shop?'
Then the rumors, and as you see it is, as in my pics,
the pre production of the movie from sets to before shooting shots.

I remember my friend's dad, Will Sapiro, who
was from Liverpool, England always would sing
a ryhme pronouncing the name of this Welsh
town. He said they would call it ' Lan Fair PG '
for short. I hear Welsh is a very unique language.
