-NORTH HOLLYWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION
Valley Plaza: Sees Candy, Weatherby Kaiser Shoes, Woolworth's
some of my youth's presence occurred in this early 'shopping center'
here in the San Fernando Valley in the 1950's. The Los Angeles
Unified School District has claimed this part of Valley Plaza for
our newest MIDDLE SCHOOL.
As I pointed out yesterday about the City and the LAUSD,
cooperation deals have been made supposedly for City Parks
and the School District at the plant on Tiara and also with
this Valley Plaza property and Victory Van Owen Park.
The Tiara location, where there
was the Noho LAPD Station in the
60's and on TV too.
We now have a beautiful elementary school,
but the City Parks area we have fenced DIRT.
Again, I will bring up this question: we see the schools being
completed and used. In one case I see nothing by the CITY.
I wait to see the conjunction at this new Middle School site.
I'm getting at this -what is a 'mayor' going to do.
To the north of the school is a remainder of Valley Plaza.
Radio Shack and Smart & Final occupy a building the I
say was an original inside mall. The Radio Shack area
were shops which you would enter right inside the
Thriftimart Market. As you walked in to the right was
a kiosk like shoe repair. There was also a Chef's
Chicken BBQ. Further north the other buildings
included DRUCKERS Kosher Deli, Jewish Bakery
and the Thrifty Drug with a fountain at the back. The
market at Archwood was originally called
Mc Donald's Market with a Scotsman logo.
