Yes call it - Saint Noho - my views of my two valleys - HUMPTYDUMPTY and CHANGELANEITUS

WELCOME TO
St. Noho
a native's eye on
Sunland Tujunga and North Hollywood

-My Introduction

Please read
what this is
all about

NOTICE: THIS POSTING WILL REMAIN
FOR THE WEEKEND & THEN BE ARCHIVED.

-I AM KEEPING MY EYES ON THE ROAD
THAT'S THE PROBLEM !

-THE HUMPS IN SUNLAND TUJUNGA
WHERE ARE THE HUMPS?
OOPS ! THAT'S WHERE THEY ARE.
(review the humps after the TURN LANES...)

-I AM KEEPING MY EYES ON THE ROAD
THAT'S THE PROBLEM ! TURN LANES.

-LANE CHANGES IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD CAN
MAKE YOUR POLICEOFFICER GET TOO FRIENDLY

THIS IS A DEDICATED TURN LANE
in the CITY OF BURBANK

CITY OF BURBANK 'ANYTHING LANES'
WITH DIRECTIONAL ARROWS

NORTH HOLLYWOOD LAPD
STATION ENTRANCE
ON BURBANK BLVD.
NORTH HOLLYWOOD

In the above pics the station is on the left
Below is Irvine just east of the station's
driveway and the 'anything lane' ON A HILL
can be dangerous if one is going to turn onto
that street while someone is trying to get
into the station.

I LIVE RIGHT DOWN THE STREET FROM
THE NEW NORTH HOLLYWOOD DIVISION LAPD.
Sometimes I drive from the west down past Colfax and
turn onto my street Irvine Ave. Twice I have almost
been hit by an LAPD Squad Car coming from the east
on Burbank Blvd. to the station. My eyes are open,
I have my signals on and luckily I do see the officers
coming, so no accident.

There is this 'ANYTHING LANE ' where one can go as
they please depending on your needs, I suppose.
I have thought about this for awhile, but it came to mind
this evening when driving home.
I went to the Costco on Burbank Blvd. IN BURBANK,
to get gas, going home I get onto Victory and turn left on
one of the next streets to get back to Burbank Blvd.

I notice in BURBANK here on Victory Blvd. the same
'sort of' anything lanes, not a DEDICATED TURN LANE
as shown in the very top pic. Yet, in BURBANK these lanes
have specific arrows for direction. Here is a series of
pics at the Noho LAPD Station on Burbank Blvd.
where there is this 'anything lane' where whatever goes.
I just don't want anything like a Police Crusier in my lap!

-DEDICATED TURN LANE

MY SOLUTION is a DEDICATED TURN LANE
FOR IRVINE AVE. and an DEDICATED TURN
LANE for The LAPD Station.
I'm done here...
read about the HUMPS below if you missed them...

-HUMPTY DUMPTY IN TUJUNGA

THE HUMPS IN SUNLAND TUJUNGA
WHERE ARE THE HUMPS?

OOPS ! THAT'S WHERE THEY ARE.

It seems Tujunga is behind the rest of the world
when it comes to those HUMPS that many streets
are adding to control speeding.
They are called SPEED BUMPS or just BUMPS
To warn the driver there are signs, there the
words in giant letters in the street that say
BUMP just before they come about.
And the HUMPS themselves have some sort
of striping to warn you to slow down.
Here are some EXAMPLES OF HUMPS
in Glendale, Burbank and in Sunland.
-IT IS DIFFERENT IN TUJUNGA.

This is a street in Glendale and even with my
phone cam you can see "BUMP" and the humps.

Now we have Sunland with sign and the HUMP
with "BUMP" and striping.

Burbank HUMPS are painted a little different
but quite noticable. (pics enlarge click)

-IT IS DIFFERENT IN TUJUNGA...

There is a shadow of something ahead.

Is that a repair asphalt job or is it...
TOO LATE there goes my OIL PAN,
or PANHEAD whichever you drive.

Yes, I see the VULCAN GRAPHICS
If I only passed that in class!

Just to be somewhat creditable I must admit
there was one 'sign' at the beginning of the
Tujunga HUMPS.
I'm sorry after driving all
" The Humps of L.A. "

I find this questionable offering
right in my own town.
IT TICKLES ME.

-VALLEY PLAZA MEMORIES

Here is a remainder of Valley Plaza.
Radio Shack and Smart & Final occupy a building the I
say was an original inside mall. The Radio Shack area
where shops which you would enter right inside the
Thriftimart Market. As you walked in to the right was
a kiosk like shoe repair. There was also a Chef's
Chicken BBQ. Further north the other buildings
included DRUCKERS Kosher Deli, a Jewish Bakery
and the Thrifty Drug with a fountain at the back.
The market at Archwood was originally called
Mc Donald's Market with a Scotsman logo.

Sunland Tujunga & North Hollywood
are the City of Los Angeles,
California in the U.S.A.

We also live in the County of Los Angeles
this is the evil maybe x-logo that has that
G-d reference, and other stuff of the devils.
The County has used for it decades, WHO KNEW?

We can always make fun of ourselves
as with the fake-logo for Kalifoana.
With this neighborhood blog about
these cities with unique
historys and lifestyles,
we will shed some humor
and truths concerning our
Los Angeles Megalopolis.
